This orange creamsicle drink has been my go to drink for the past few weeks.
Whether I make an orange creamsicle cocktail or mocktail, this drink has not let me down once. It’s bright, flavorful, and something I’m so happy to share with you all!
Why you’ll love this orange creamsicle drink
Think of everything you love about an orange creamsicle… but in drink form! You get flavors of vanilla ice cream and orange juice all within this drink. While there is no vanilla ice cream present, the flavor shines thanks to vanilla flavored heavy whipping cream!
This can easily be a mocktail or an orange creamsicle cocktail recipe. Vanilla vodka (or whipped cream vodka) can make this orange creamsicle into a delicious boozy drink. However, it’s absolutely delicious without the vodka too!
A new twist on an old favorite. You don’t need ice cream, orange soda, or orange sherbet to make this delicious orange creamsicle drink!

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need if you plan to make an orange creamsicle drink:
- Mandarin oranges
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Simple syrup
- Cream soda
- Heavy cream
- Vanilla extract
- Sugar
- Zest from mandarin oranges
- Ice cubes
If you’d like to make an delicious orange creamsicle cocktail, I’d recommend adding whipped cream vodka (or vanilla vodka) to the list too!
While you could use orange soda in place of the freshly squeezed mandarin orange juice, I wouldn’t swap it. I’ve tried both and TBH, the orange juice is superior! The heavy whipping cream on top is also much better than whipped cream (especially when you add a bit of vanilla extract to it)!
Important: I highly recommend making the orange sugar sprinkles to rim your glass. It elevates your orange creamsicle drink that much more! All you need to make it is orange zest and sugar!

How to make an orange creamsicle drink
To a cocktail shaker, add one mandarin orange followed by the freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup. Muddle these ingredients together, give it a good shake, and set to the side.
Now, make the orange sugar. Add sugar to a small plate and zest one orange. Using your fingers, mix the two ingredients together until combined. Then, rim your glass with a slice of lime and dip the cup into the sugar and orange zest mixture.
Add some ice to your glass, followed by the mandarin orange juice mix. Add the cream soda and the heavy whipping cream. Top with additional orange sugar and enjoy!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question not answered below? Leave it down in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer!
Can I use almond milk in place of heavy cream?
You can, but I really wouldn’t recommend it. Mainly because the heavy whipping cream will sit on top of the orange juice/cream soda while the almond milk will combine within the drink.
If you’re fine with that, feel free to use it!
Who created orange creamsicles?
Frank Epperson created the famous orange creamsicle dessert in 1905. At just 11 years old, he successfully enclosed vanilla ice cream within a layer of frozen fruit juice and called it an “Episicle”!
