Looking for a bakery style dessert that you’re able to make at home? Look no further than my strawberries and cream danish recipe!

It’s incredibly easy to make, tastes delicious, and you’ll have leftovers for the next day.

Why you’ll love this recipe

It takes practically no time to make! There’s absolutely no need to make your own puff pastry dough for this recipe. Simply purchase a frozen pack, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator or for 30 minutes on the counter, and you’re ready to go!

You’re using fresh ingredients! Fresh strawberries are used instead of jam.

The flavor is phenomenal! The cream cheese and fresh strawberries together is a match made in heaven. Not to mention the buttery, flaky texture.

Ingredients

  • Frozen puff pastry
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Cream cheese
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Egg wash
  • Cinnamon *optional

The cinnamon is my secret ingredient for these strawberries and cream danishes. I add it to the strawberry filling and it takes the flavor to the next level. I recommend using it, but feel free to omit if you’re not into cinnamon!

Before you can make these, you’ll need to thaw the puff pastry. This can be done either in the refrigerator overnight or on the counter for 30 minutes. Once your puff pastry is thawed, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and place a silicone mat (or parchment paper) on your baking tray.

In a small sauce pan, add the strawberries, sugar, and cinnamon. Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the strawberries and when the mixture begins to boil, remove from heat and allow the filling to cool (this should take about 20 minutes).

While you wait, add the cream cheese, vanilla bean paste, and sugar to a medium sized bowl and blend together with a hand mixture until the creamy. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry dough. Cut it into 6 squares and place onto your prepared baking tray. Fill the center with the cream cheese mixture, then top with the strawberry mixture. In a small bowl, mix one egg and the water together. Lightly brush the edges of your puff pastry dough with the egg wash.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. While baking, prepare the next puff pastry sheet the same way & bake when the first batch is done! Transfer the baked strawberries and cream danishes to a cooling rack and cool for at least 10 minutes then enjoy!

Notes

* If you’d like, you can cut the pastry dough into 12 squares instead of 6. This will leave you with a smaller danish of course, but you’ll have more to share!

*Depending on how you decide to thaw your puff pastry dough, the time will change. The time provided above is if you let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
